Caring for the UK's Cats: Helping, Re-Homing & Raising Awareness

Cats Protection is the UK's leading feline welfare charity.
We re-home and re-unite 55,500 cats and kittens every year, through our network of over 250 voluntary-run branches and 29 adoption centres.

Our vision is to ensure that every cat is given the chance of a life where it will be
treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.

Cats Protection has simple and clear objectives to help cats: to find good homes for cats
in need, to support and encourage the neutering of cats and to improve people’s
understanding of cats and their care.

Watching the excitement and energy of a sponsored firewalking event invariably makes people want to find out more about the art and science of firewalking; it's history, how it is possible and what happens on the actual night of an event. With this in mind, the events company Time4Change have compiled a generic frequently asked questions document which can be read on-line follow this link

A frequently asked questions document specific to this event can be downloaded through the link at the bottom of the page.

After you have imagined just how good it will feel to take part in the Cats Protection's Bridgend Firewalk; all you have to do to ensure your place on the walk is contact Julie Sharp at the above number/email or alternatively you can instantly download the application form at the bottom of the page, print it off and return it to the address provided along with the necessary deposit fee. Alternatively, you can register for the event by electronically sending the deposit fee to the Cat's Protection Just Giving website and making a note of the donation details when sending an email to confirm to Julie Sharp (see the Just Giving section for more details below).

How much do I need to raise so I can participate in this event?

To secure your place on the firewalk, Cats Protection is asking each participant to provide a £25 deposit upon registration (the deposit is exclusive to the fundraising target) and agree to a fundraising target of £125 (though obviously we encourage you to raise far more!)

Note: Sponsorship forms & a fundraising pack will be sent to you upon receipt of the registration fee.

We also provide you with frequently asked questions sheets and posters (to put up for example on your workplace notice board). These are available either through Julie Sharp or alternatively by download from the buttons at the bottom of the page and printing them off yourself.

We also suggest you direct your sponsors to this web page and the video through emails or mobile texts (just copy the URL "www.t4c.org.uk/cp") so they can see for themselves exactly what you are undertaking in aid of Cats Protection. You can also download a web flyer to put up on your Facebook and/or Myspace account (see below)

Note: All cheques should be made payable to "Cats Protection"

  CATS PROTECTION  JUST GIVING WEBSITE

In addition to the traditional sponsorship sheet, a way of saving lots of time and energy collecting sponsorship money is to go to the website (on the link above) and create your own personal fundraising account, which takes about five minutes to do. This consists of an individual web page complete with details of the fundraising event (don't forget to add a link to this page as well).

You then email the page's web address to everyone you know and people can sponsor you by making an electronic payment via credit/debit card or PayPal direct to Cats Protection
(this way you do not have to either collect sponsorship monies yourself or arrange to pass onto Cats Protection).

It's very quick and easy and in addition to this, Just Giving automatically collects Gift Aid on behalf of each charity (under the Gift Aid scheme, charities can reclaim an extra 28% in tax on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer which makes for every £1 you donate Cats Protection will receive an extra 28p).

For more information about Just Giving please click on this link

In addition to this, many companies now offer matching sponsorship and will donate an amount equal to what you raise personally to the charity concerned. Why not find out if the company or organisation you work for offers this. It's a great way to boost the amount you raise!

********************************************************************************************
Not only is this a once in a lifetime experience, compared to other ‘extreme’ events such as sponsored parachuting or trekking abroad, both the amounts you are required to raise and the initial costs are far lower (which means a bigger percentage of what you raise goes straight to Cats Protection). Firewalking is such an ‘unusual’ activity that people are not only more willing to sponsor an individual who is taking part in a fundraising firewalk; they are far more likely to offer higher levels of sponsorship.

Application Form, frequently asked questions sheet and poster are available to download and print off by clicking and saving on the icons below.
All media are either in Word or JPEG format and the files vary in size between 500k and 4meg

Some of the files may take a few moments to download as we are dependent on the demands on our bandwidth and the download speed of your internet connection.
